The British government���s overseas trade and investment agency has invited A Balasubramanian, one of the leading exponents of Indian ports reforms and principal of the advisory service and principal investments group, Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC), as an international speaker to make presentations on Indian port developments at the Global Port Projects Seminars to be held in London on June 3 and Liverpool on June 5, 2008.


The event will highlight port developments in high growth markets including China, Vietnam, India and Saudi Arabia and for UK companies it is an opportunity to meet key players within the ports sector who are delivering these projects.

As part of the programme, Mr Balasubramanian has been invited to Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, June 4, to meet with The Duke of York, UK Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. His Royal Highness will chair a discussion on the key challenges and issues faced by governments, port authorities and developers when planning, building and operating a new port. It is understood that the Duke will discuss with him about future port development plans in India.

Mr Bala was trained in port management from University of Wales, Cardiff, UK and has intimate familiarity with the nuances of the port industry having visited over 100 terminals in the world.
