Railway manufacturing units posts good performance
The manufacturing units of Indian Railways which makes locomotives, engines and coaches have performed well in recent years.

NEW DELHI : The manufacturing units of Indian Railways which makes locomotives, engines and coaches have performed well in recent years.
Factory plants like Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), Diesel Locomotive Works(DLW), Rail Coach Factory (RCF) and Integral Coach Factory (ICF) have performed well this year from April to July.
While CLW produced 49 electric locomotives, matching its stated target, DLW produced 87 diesel locomotives against the target of 79 diesel locomotives during the period.
Similarly, RCF produced 548 coaches against the target of 526 coaches and ICF manufactured 326 coaches against the target of 317 coaches.
On the other hand, Rail Wheel Factory produced 62,277 wheels and 27,534 axles during the same period as against the target of 61,010 wheels and 23,479 axles.

The performance comes even as the punctuality percentage of mail/express trains was 93.4 per cent in broad gauge and 99.4 per cent in metre gauge during the month of July 2008.Start a SIP with as low as ₹500 with ET Money App!
