Mumbai Port gets 5 trustees, JNPT still in queue
Irrespective of their different areas of expertise, according to the official notification, all the five have been said to be representing 'other interests'. In all, the port board has now 17 trustees.
MUMBAI: Government has appointed five leading industry personalities into the board of Mumbai Port Trust.
The five new trustees are: SP Rao, President, Mumbai and Nhava Sheva Ship Agents Association (MANSA), R Radhakrishnan, President, Bombay Customs House Agents' Association (BCHAA), S Hazara, CMD of SCI and President of Indian National Shipowners Association (INSA), Jayant Lapasia, President, All India Liquid Bulk Importers and Exporters Association, and Ranjit Shahani, President, Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

While Mumbai Port has been lucky to get these trustees representing the trade on time after the terms of its earlier trustees got expired in April, Jawaharal Nehru Port is still looking at the ministry for its quota of trade represenation on its board.
The board has been operating for more than one year without the five posts of trustees being filled by trade representations.
