Mini buses to link Metro, Noida sectors
The Noida Authority plans to launch a fleet of mini buses that will connect most of the sectors in Noida to all the Metro stations in the city.
In January this year, 16 roadways buses had begun operations as feeder vehicles within the city on four fixed routes. However, as the buses did not go inside sectors or around market areas, the service failed to generate satisfactory public response. On February 25, due to low ridership UPSRTC recalled six of these buses.
Once the proposal takes shape, the Authority and UPSRTC will also revise the routes of the existing roadways buses that currently act as feeder vehicles. “The 10 roadways buses that currently operate on the four fixed routes cannot go inside the sectors, or around market areas, busy spots etc. However, the mini buses will be able to connect most of the sectors in Noida and the busiest spots across the city to the Metro stations . The roadways buses will eventually be used for better connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida and for connecting the two cities with Ghaziabad ,” an Authority official said. The detailed plan for the mini buses as well as the route revision for the roadways buses is scheduled to be finalized within a month’s time.
