KOLKATA: The country's maritime trade is poised for a quantum jump despite global economic crisis.

This calls for massive capacity addition in port infrastructure over and above Rs 55,000 crore earmarked for the purpose.

Ports along the east coast particularly lag behind in containerised cargo handling facilities, Mr S Hajara, CMD, Shipping Corporation of India, said at a seminar on 'Impact of Upcoming Ports on East Coast'.
