The shipping ministry has set up a logistics data bank (LDB) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai.

The logistics data bank service would bring efficiency in the current Logistics & Supply Chain environment through use of information technology that would be helpful for tracking and viewing the movement of containers across the port.

“This LDB Project will provide visibility and transparency in EXIM containers movement and will help in reducing overall lead time of the container movement across the western corridor and lower the transaction cost incurred by the shippers and consignees as a result of predictability and optimization achieved through Logistics Data Bank (LDB) services,” a statement from shipping ministry said.
