Life saving measures proposed for large passenger vessels

The shipping ministry has proposed compulsory life saving measures for inland passenger vessels in the draft Inland Vessels (Life Saving Appliances) Rules 2022. These rules have been proposed under the Inland Vessels Act of 2021.

The shipping ministry has proposed compulsory life saving measures for inland passenger vessels in the draft Inland Vessels (Life Saving Appliances) Rules 2022. These rules have been proposed under the Inland Vessels Act of 2021.

A vessel with a passenger capacity of 200 or more shall have at least one functional rescue or workboat that could accommodate a minimum of six people. It is also applicable to vessels more than 45 meters in length. Vessels with a passenger capacity of over 100 should be provided with a line throwing apparatus.
