Japanese co may set up new freight corridor

A Japanese delegation, in the city to study the proposal for setting up a special freight corridor between Delhi and Mumbai, on Thursday visited the Ahmedabad railway station.

AHMEDABAD: A Japanese delegation, in the city to study the proposal for setting up a special freight corridor between Delhi and Mumbai, today visited the Ahmedabad railway station.
A study team from the Japanese International Co-operative Agency held a meeting with senior railway officials here and would also visit Mehsana later today, railway sources said.
The special freight corridor would link Delhi with Mumbai via Rajasthan and Gujarat and pass through Palanpur, Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat, sources added.
