Haldia Dock logs 27% cargo growth in April-July 2015: KoPT chairman

Kolkata Dock System (KDS), KoPT's another unit, handled 5.19 mt of traffic during the four months, a growth of 15.25 per cent.

KOLKATA: Kolkata Port Trust's (KoPT) Haldia Dock (HDC) handled 11.63 million tonnes (mt) of cargo traffic in April-July 2015, up 26.64 per cent from 9.18 mt a year ago, KoPT chairman RPS Kahlon said.

KoPT has also received the 'Major Port of the Year' award among 12 major ports for 2014-15.

Kolkata Dock System (KDS), KoPT's another unit, handled 5.19 mt of traffic during the four months, a growth of 15.25 per cent over 4.51 mt last year.

In container segment, Kolkata Port handled 2,06,709 TEUs in April-July, a growth of 3.55 per cent over same period in 2014-15.
