GSL proposes long-term relationship with coast guard
Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) is examining the possibility of a long-term relationship with Indian coast guard (ICG) for the maintenance and repairs of its vessels.
Asserting that GSL has existing relationship with ICG, Bakshi said they have delivered the first of the series of the 90 meter off-shore patrol vessels, ICGS Vishwast, designed and built in house. "Two more such ships are under construction," he added.
Speaking to the media at the annual press conference, Bakshi said the company was looking at the possibility of establishing a presence in the Middle East for the repairs and construction of ships. He said the company''s order book has the commitments worth Rs 2000 crore.
"We are looking at South Africa, Africa and South East Asia," the Chairman said. Bakshi said that GSL was looking at export market for its entire range of products such as the damage control simulator, fast interceptor craft, patrol vessels and off shore patrol vessels.
