Govt softens, truckers firm on strike

The ministry kept the door open for talks with the protesters as the stir entered its sixth day on Saturday, but the striking transporters issued a written statement: ������The minister is never available. It���s not possible to talk to chairs and furniture in his office.������
The Centre also suggested that state governments suspend or revoke vehicle permits and allow government-owned vehicles and private buses with state permits to ferry essential commodities as reports of scarcity poured in.
