GE Shipping signs contract to buy crude carrier
Marine logistics services provider, Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd (GE Shipping) on Thursday said it has signed a contract to buy a Suezmax crude carrier.
The 1,47,834 dwt, 1996 built double hull Suezmax crude carrier would join the company's fleet during the third quarter of 2006-07, GE Shipping informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The company intends to enhance its double hull tonnage apart from building a modern Suezmax fleet with the induction of this vessel, it added.
With this delivery, the crude tonnage of the company would be 15 ships aggregating to 1.95 mn dwt.
The company's current fleet of 74 vessels, comprises 40 ships and 34 offshore vessels and the new building order book comprises of five medium range, four Long Range One (LR1) product tankers and five offshore supply vessels (OSVs).
Shares of the company were trading at Rs 252.55, down 1.39 per cent at the BSE.
