GE Shipping signs contract for two dry bulk carriers

Great Eastern Shipping signed a contract with SPP Shipbuilding, Korea for two new building Kamsarmax dry bulk carriers.

MUMBAI - Great Eastern Shipping signed a contract with SPP Shipbuilding, Korea for two new building Kamsarmax dry bulk carriers. These vessels of 81,000 dead weight tonne capacity will join the company’s fleet in the first quarter of 2011-12 (Apr-Mar).

Earlier, the company had placed orders for four Supramax and two Kamsarmax dry bulk carriers. With this contract, the company's new building order book comprises 12 vessels aggregating 0.85 million dead weight tonne.

Shares of GE Shipping were down 1.14 per cent at Rs 502.10 on the BSE.
