GE Shipping arm to sell a platform supply vessel
Greatship India, a unit of Great Eastern Shipping — India’s largest private sector shipping company — has contracted to sell a platform supply vessel to be delivered to buyers by June.
Greatship’s Singapore unit, Greatship Global Offshore Services, has also contracted to sell a platform support vessel. It is currently under construction and will be delivered by March 2010, the statement added.
A platform supply vessel is designed to supply offshore oil platforms. The primary function is transportation of goods and personnel to offshore oil platforms and other offshore structures.
Greatship’s fleet has 17 vessels, including two jack-up rigs and six platform supply vessels. Its new building orderbook stands at 11 vessels, which are being constructed at Singapore, India and Sri Lanka.
