Gati Founder and MD Mahendra Agarwal resigns

“Mr Agarwal is considered as a Pioneer of Express Cargo business in India and had set up Gati in 1989. Over the course of 30 years, he managed to take the company to great heights,” said the company in a statement

MUMBAI: Mahendra Agarwal, Founder and Managing Director of Hyderabad-based Gati Ltd., resigned from the Boards of Gati, Gati-KWE, and Gati-Kausar, said the companies’ majority shareholder Allcargo Logistics.

“Mr Agarwal is considered as a Pioneer of Express Cargo business in India and had set up Gati in 1989. Over the course of 30 years, he managed to take the company to great heights,” said the company in a statement

It added that because of these developments, the ongoing court case filed by Agarwal’s family to stop the share sale deal, “has been rendered infructuous and is now being withdrawn”.

Allcargo Logistics now holds controlling stake in the company along with the inclusion of some of its senior leaders and Board Members into Gati’s Board. Allcargo chairman Shashi Kiran Shetty took over as head of Gati in July.
