Freight rates up on less availability of trucks

Delhi to Chennai and Bangalore rates went up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 44,000 and Rs 45,000, respectively.

NEW DELHI: Freight rates to select destinations rose by up to Rs 1,000 for 10 metric tonne load in the local truck transport market today following busy cargo movements amid tight position of trucks.

Transporters said heavy movements of cargo and paucity of trucks in the market mainly pushed up freight rates.

Delhi to Chennai and Bangalore rates went up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 44,000 and Rs 45,000, respectively.

Pondicherry, Coimbatore and Kochi rates also moved up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 45,000, Rs 51,000 and Rs 55,000. respectively.

Likewise, rates to Goa, Guwahati and Ahmedabad rose by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 36,000, Rs 38,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively.
