Freight rates dip on less movements of cargo

Freight rates for nine metric tonne pay load section for select destinations turned weak in the local truck transport market.

NEW DELHI: Freight rates for nine metric tonne pay load section for select destinations turned weak in the local truck transport market here today following excess availability of trucks as compared to the cargo movements.

Transporters said increased enquiries by the truck operators coupled with less movements of cargo due to bad weather conditions mainly pulled down some of the centres freight rates.

Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram freight rates went down by Rs 1000 each to Rs 30,000 and Rs 49,000 on excess availability of lorries.

Rates to Baroda, Kolkata and Patna also dropped by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 11,000, Rs 23,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively on less movements of cargo.

Mysore freight declined from Rs 35,000 to Rs 33,000 on poor movements of cargo while surat freight depicted lower at Rs 13,000 from Rs 14,000 respectively.

Elsewhere, rest other destinations freight rates from capital were asked at around overnight levels on some support.
