FICA opposes amendments in Indian Post Office Act

Federation of Indian Courier Association on Monday opposed the proposed amendments of the Indian Post Office Act saying it will render over 15 lakh people jobless in the courier industry.

NEW DELHI: Federation of Indian Courier Association on Monday opposed the proposed amendments of the Indian Post Office Act saying it will render over 15 lakh people jobless in the courier industry.
FICA in a statement issued today said the proposed amendments should be struck down as it creates monopoly with the state and present public policy of decentralisation and privatisation would be cornered.
It would hamper economic growth and 85 per cent of the service providers would have to close their business, it said.
