Facilities on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway under probe
Unfair trade practices watchdog MRTPC has initiated investigation into the poor facilities provided on the newly built Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, developed by DSC Ltd.
Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission directed its investigative unit DGIR to look into the issue and file a report by May 5.
During the proceedings before MRTPC today, a bench headed by Justice O P Dwivedi asked Director General of Investigation and Registration (DGIR) to file a detailed preliminary investigation report.
The bench also directed DGIR to probe any unfair and restrictive trade pratices under the MRTP Act by DSC Ltd and the facilities provided to the commuters.
The matter is listed for next hearing on May 5. If found guilty of adopting unfair and restrictive trade practices, the Commission would start judicial proceeding against the company.
Earlier, the company had claimed the expressway would reduce the travel time between the two places to 20 minutes. Instead, the commuters have to spend more than an hour in ques on the toll plaza.
Recently, the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways had asked D S Constructions to ensure that the waiting time at the toll plaza should be no longer than 10 minutes and if it exceeds the period, toll gates should be opened to clear the traffic.
