DMRC delays inauguration of Yamuna Bank-Noida line by a month

NOIDA/NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro has delayed the inauguration of the Yamuna Bank-Noida line by a month due to non-availability of new coaches.

The much-awaited 13.1 km elevated corridor connecting the national capital with the satellite township, scheduled to be opened by August end, will now be inaugurated in September.

DMRC chief E Sreedharan said the primary cause of the delay was the shortage of new coaches.

All the Metro pillars on the line have been examined and the cracks, which were found during an inspection conducted by Sirish and Patel Associates, were not serious, he said here last night.

The opening of the line will result in a paradigm shift in the travel habits of millions of people in the National Capital region.

Delhi Metro began the trial runs on the Yamuna Bank-Noida corridor on July 26 with the train running up to New Ashok Nagar station.

With the opening of the section, Line III will comprise a total of 42 stations and its length will increase to 47.2 kms.

There are 10 stations in the 13.1 km section, out of which 4 fall within Delhi while 6 stations fall in Noida in UP.
