DHL to set up three new free trade warehousing zones in India
DHL will set up three new FTWZ in India and increase their warehousing capacity as the company looks to expand its foothold in the Indian market.
DHL's global forwarding division had earlier set up an FTWZ in Chennai, and is now looking to increase its pan-India presence with the setting up of new warehouses and FTWZ's at a time when global logistics giants Fedex and UPS looks to strengthen its position in the country through acquisitions.
"We have an FTWZ operational now at Chennai, and now we will be looking at increasing that foothold to Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad," said RS Subramanian, Country head, DHL Express.
DHL, which had acquired domestic air cargo player, Bluedart in 2004 had earlier decided to set up more than 1,000 retail outlets in the country by 2015, aimed at tapping the growing need across the country.
