Delhi to get safe e-rickshaws 'Zbees' by year-end
While Delhi and central governments are working out modalities for existing e-rickshaws, the city will get 25 battery-operated three-wheelers branded ‘Zbees’.
NEW DELHI: By the year-end you can take a safe and comfortable ride in a smart e-rickshaw from Saket mall to Malviya Nagar Metro station.
While Delhi and central governments are working out modalities for existing e-rickshaws, the city will get 25 battery-operated three-wheelers branded ‘Zbees’. The vehicles are being manufactured by a Swedish company in association with an Indian partner in Faridabad.
Zbees has seatbelts both for driver and the two passengers.
It has undergone crash test successfully, CEO of Clean Motion, Goran Folkesson told TOI. The company is now seeking a go-ahead from the government’s vehicle testing agency, ICAT in Manesar. “We will launch the services as a cluster. We have received requests from other cities including Gurgaon, Mumbai, Chennai and Pune,” said Folkesson. The vehicle is being displayed as a part of the ongoing Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week in Delhi.
The vehicle can run at a speed of 45 kmph and consumes 4 kWh for 100 km. Zbee uses lithium batteries.
