Delhi clears Vizhingam project

Centre has cleared the Kerala government contract awarding the multi-crore Vizhinjam container transshipment terminal project to the consortium led by Hyderabad-based Lanco Kondappally Power.

In a government order issued last week noted the 'proposal has been examined in consultation with the ministries of defence, external affairs and home affairs. It is conveyed that this department has no objection from the security angle for the development of the international container transshipment terminal.''

The shipping ministry has also set the condition that the state to enter into an 'integrity pact' with the consortium for developing the seaport.
