Concor in working JV with Seaways
Container Corporation of India (Concor), the prime mover of containerised cargo by rail and Secunderabad-based logistics major Seaways group have entered into a joint working agreement.
According to P Vivek Anand, director of Seaways group, the development will immensely help exporters from the northern region as they will be able to avail the expertise of both the groups jointly through a single window.
While Concor will provide its expertise and facilities to shippers for handling of cargo at Phillaur and Majarhat ICDs and move their boxes to Kolkata Port, Seaways will carry it further from Kolkata to Chittagong on vessels “MV Coastal Express-1” and “MV Mir Damad” operated in the Bay of Bengal Sector.
The new arrangement ensures advantages of reduced costs to exporters by making easy availability of containers and facilitating scheduled rail departures from Phillaur and fixed vessel schedules from Kolkata to enable shippers plan their export programs in line with manufacturing, said Mr Anand.
