Chowgule’s Jaigad maritime complex project achieves financial closure

The integrated Maritime Complex project at Jaigad in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, promoted by Goa-based Chowgule group, has achieved financial closure for its Phase - I. The project involves development, operation and maintenance of cargo terminal and state of the art ship repair facility.

The promoters have been following up the project with government of maharashtra under BOOST policy and signed the concession agreement in 2008. The project has already received the environmental clearance from the authorities and is likely to become operational by the end of 2011.

The proposed ship repair facility will be environment friendly with shiplift technology with infrastructure to repair multiple ships at a time. Jaigad Port will be the third port on the Maharashtra coast to start commercial operations after JSW and Dighi.
