New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Tuesday started its asset monetisation exercise for the ongoing financial year, with the opening of bids for two national highway stretches in Tamil Nadu totalling 170 km under the toll-operate-transfer (TOT) mode.

People familiar with the matter told ET that Epic Concesiones 2 Pvt Ltd emerged as the highest bidder for the TOT-Bundle 19 with a bid value of ₹2,259 crore, followed by Adani Enterprises (₹2,255 crore), Prakash Asphaltings Toll Highways (India) or PATH (₹1,551.10 crore) and Cube Highways (₹1,348.11 crore). NHAI will evaluate the bids and award the project within a week, an official said, though highlighting that there have been instances in the past when projects have been awarded at a much faster pace.

The ministry of road transport and highways-the nodal body for all highway development, including those of NHAI-has set a target of raising ₹30,000-35,000 crore through asset monetisation in 2026-27. This would mark an increase from ₹28,307 crore raised last fiscal.

NHAI has identified 17 national highway assets with a total combined length of 1,692.5 km for monetisation under the TOT and infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) modes in FY27. The identified assets comprise stretches across nine states. However, the list does not include the assets proposed to be monetised through Raajmarg Infra Investment Trust for FY27.
