Dwarka Expressway: Route details, toll charges, and regulations

According to Gurgaon Traffic Police, two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws are prohibited from using the recently opened 19-kilometer segment of the Dwarka Expressway. The entire expressway spans 29 kilometers, with 18.9 kilometers falling within Haryana and the remaining 10.1 kilometers within Delhi. The Haryana segment was made accessible to the public on March 12, following its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This section of the Dwarka Expressway promises a simpler and faster commute between Haryana and Delhi's IGI Airport. Post-opening, the estimated travel time for this distance is 30 minutes, offering relief from traffic congestion on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway by providing an alternate route linking Delhi and Gurgaon.

DCP (Traffic) Virender Vij chaired a meeting to discuss traffic management on the expressway, emphasizing the prohibition of six vehicle types: two-wheelers, tractors/trolleys, auto-rickshaws, multi-axle hydraulic trailer vehicles, quadricycles, and non-motorized vehicles. Traffic Police have been tasked with enforcing these regulations, issuing fines for non-compliance and preventing unauthorized entry.

Stringent measures are in place to penalize violators, particularly those driving on the wrong side or engaging in reckless behavior. Within a day of its opening, traffic police have already fined over 20 motorists for driving against the designated flow of traffic. Immediate action is mandated against offenders, including those involved in stunt-driving activities, with police teams regularly patrolling the expressway.

To curb speeding, traffic enforcement authorities have been equipped with interceptor challan machines. Light motor vehicles are required to maintain a speed of 100 km/h, while heavy motor vehicles must adhere to an 80 km/h speed limit on the expressway. Challans will be issued to drivers exceeding these limits to mitigate the risk of road accidents.

While official toll rates for the Dwarka Expressway are yet to be announced, media reports suggest the following expected toll charges for single journeys:
