Cityflo is expanding its bus services to Kolkata and boosting its fleet in Delhi-NCR. The company now operates over 1,000 buses, three times its size last year. This move makes Cityflo a leading app-based bus operator in India. It aims to provide ...
“Delhi-NCR and Kolkata together represent tens of millions of daily commuters navigating some of the most congested corridors in the country, with a significant share still dependent on private vehicles over shared transport," said Jerin Venad, co-founder and CEO, Cityflo.
Cityflo is backed by several investors including Lightbox Ventures, Anupam Mittal, Alteria Capital, India Quotient and others.
The company’s expansion indicates a broader shift in urban mobility, with people increasingly choosing structured, pre-booked transport over private vehicles or public options. The company is betting on reliability as a key differentiator in a segment where service predictability remains uneven.
The platform now operates in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi-NCR and Kolkata, cities that account for a significant share of India’s white-collar workforce and some of its most congested traffic corridors.
In Delhi-NCR, Cityflo plans to deploy more than 200 buses across over 30 routes connecting residential hubs such as Noida, Faridabad and Gurgaon with key business districts including Cyber City and Sohna Road. In Kolkata, it is launching with about 200 buses linking residential areas to commercial zones like Sector V and New Town.
The company said it serves more than 5 million users annually and has grown daily ridership by about 50% over the past year. Cityflo’s latest push comes as urban congestion worsens and demand rises for predictable, point-to-point transport, though scaling operations across cities with differing traffic dynamics and regulatory frameworks remains a challenge.
