The Union Cabinet, under PM Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana - IV (PMGSY-IV) for FY 2024-25 to 2028-29 with a total outlay of Rs 70,125 crore.

"The financial assistance is to be provided for the construction of 62,500 km of road to provide new connectivity to 25,000 unconnected habitations and for the construction and upgradation of bridges on these new connectivity roads. The total outlay of this scheme will be Rs 70,125 crore," the government said in a press release.

"PMGSY-IV will incorporate international benchmarks and best practices in road construction, such as Cold Mix Technology, Waste Plastic, Panelled Cement Concrete, Cell-Filled Concrete, Full Depth Reclamation, and the use of construction waste and other materials like Fly Ash and Steel Slag."

"Road alignment planning for PMGSY-IV will be undertaken through the PM Gati Shakti portal. The planning tool on the PM Gati Shakti portal will also assist in DPR preparation," the release added.
