Roads ministry proposes special scheme to decongest traffic in metro cities
As per top roads ministry officials, the ministry is seeking close to Rs 90,000 crore as budgetary allocation from finance ministry for the next financial year.
The ministry will seek an additional allocation for the same in the upcoming budget. "We’ll request the finance ministry to provide us Rs 5000 crore under a separate head for constructing bypasses in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad,” Gadkari said.
Gadkari said his ministry had studied the traffic pattern in Delhi and had suggested building eight elevated corridors to decongest the vehicular traffic in outer parts of Delhi. “The same could be done for other metro cities as well,” he said.
