Indian Railways has announced 3,548 vacancies for graduate-level posts under the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC-Graduate) recruitment for 2026. The recruitment drive is being conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 06/2026. The online application process began on October 8, 2026, and eligible candidates can apply until November 6, 2026, at 11.59 pm. The recruitment offers opportunities for graduates across commercial services, train operations, accounts and railway administration.

RRB NTPC vacancy 2026: Check post-wise distribution

The recruitment covers four categories of posts, with the largest share of vacancies available for Goods Train Managers.

The post-wise vacancy distribution is as follows:

  • Goods Train Manager: 2,750 vacancies
  • Senior Clerk Cum Typist: 371 vacancies
  • Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist: 300 vacancies
  • Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor: 127 vacancies
Together, these posts account for all 3,548 graduate-level vacancies announced under the notification.

RRB NTPC salary 2026: Check initial basic pay

The posts offer initial basic pay under the Seventh Central Pay Commission, with salaries varying according to the pay level.

The Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor post carries an initial basic pay of Rs 35,400 per month under Pay Level 6. The Goods Train Manager, Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist and Senior Clerk Cum Typist posts offer an initial basic pay of Rs 29,200 per month under Pay Level 5.

Applicable allowances and other service conditions will be governed by the relevant rules.

RRB NTPC eligibility criteria 2026

Candidates applying for the graduate-level posts must hold a degree from a recognised university or possess an equivalent qualification. They must also meet the specific eligibility requirements prescribed for their chosen post.

RRB NTPC selection process 2026

The selection process comprises a first-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by a second-stage CBT. Candidates will subsequently undergo document verification and a medical examination, as applicable to the post.

Selection will be based on merit and fulfilment of the prescribed eligibility conditions. Reservation benefits and age relaxations will apply to eligible candidates under the relevant provisions. Scribe assistance and compensatory time will also be available to eligible candidates with disabilities, subject to the prescribed rules.

RRB NTPC typing test exemption for certain posts

Under CEN No. 06/2026, the Computer-Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) has been dispensed with for the posts of Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist and Senior Clerk Cum Typist.

However, candidates appointed to these posts are expected to possess basic computer and typing proficiency. This proficiency will be assessed after joining, as specified in the notification.
