New Delhi: India will develop next-generation Vande Bharat trains in the next 18 months, railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said Wednesday.

The Indian Railways also plans to develop 7,000 kilometres of Dedicated Passenger Corridors by 2047, which are designed for running trains at up to 350 km per hour, Vaishnaw said, while inaugurating the 16th International Railway Equipment Exhibition.

India is currently operating Vande Bharat 3.0, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in under 52 seconds.

"The new version will focus on enhancing toilets, improving seats and elevating the overall workmanship of the coaches," Vaishnaw said, adding that the goal is to establish Vande Bharat 4.0 as global standard.
