Vadodara-Ahmedabad daily commuters to soon get faster travel facility. Railways starts test run of Vande Bharat Metro

Indian Railways is gearing up to introduce the Vande Bharat Metro in Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in the nation's public transportation. This metro service, which is the first of its kind in India, will operate between Vadodara and Ahmedabad, with trial runs set to begin in the near future. JK Jayant, Chief Spokesperson of Western Railway, confirmed that the trials are scheduled to commence within the coming days, focusing on enhancing connectivity and efficiency, especially following recent upgrades to the railway route between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

Designed for Daily Commuters

The Vande Bharat Metro is specifically designed to cater to daily commuters, offering a time-efficient travel option. Jayant mentioned that the final decision regarding the metro's route will be made soon, ensuring that the service is optimized for the needs of travelers.

Successful Trial of 20-Coach Vande Bharat Train

Recently, a 20-coach Vande Bharat train was successfully tested at Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad, reaching speeds of 130 kilometers per hour. The trial, which was overseen by Western Railway officials and engineers, highlighted the train's capabilities. With the current 16-coach Vande Bharat trains operating at full capacity, the introduction of the 20-coach variant is expected to significantly improve service.

High-Speed Corridor to Enhance Connectivity

In addition to the metro service, Gujarat is set to benefit from a new 214 km High-Speed Corridor between Tharad and Ahmedabad. This six-lane corridor, approved by the Union Cabinet with a budget of over Rs 10,500 crore, aims to enhance road connectivity for residents of Gujarat and neighboring states, including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Delhi. This infrastructure project is expected to facilitate smoother and faster travel, further boosting the region's connectivity.
