KOLKATA: A 12-member UK railway delegation will meet the Minister of State for Railway R Velu to discuss opportunity for possible partnership with the Indian Railways.

Opportunities where UK expertise could be rendered would be discussed by the delegation with Velu tomorrow, UK Railway Industry Association, director (Int Business Development) Pim Grey told an interactive session with the Indian Chamber of Commerce.

The members of the delegation hinted they were more interested in Metro Railway projects and could render services in project consultancy, passenger interface and information, track and train performance.

British Deputy High Commissioner Simon Wilson said, "with profits soaring, Indian Railways is well positioned to take on ambitious projects. It wants state-of-the-art facilties and equipment. It wants the best technology. The private sector is also actively joining hands with Indian Railways and is becoming partner.

"At this exciting time for Indian Railways, I am delighted that UK Trade & Investment and Railway Industry Association has taken this initiative to bring this mission to India."
