Taxi kiosks at Metro stations soon
Commuters travelling on metro trains will no longer have to struggle for getting a cab as they can now book taxis at the stations.
"These taxis will help commuters reach South Delhi, Noida, Gurgoan, Airport and other areas immediately, once this service becomes operational since the Metro will be reaching these destinations in the next 2 years," the DMRC said in a statement today. Commuters who would like to avail the service can contact the taxi kiosks at the metro stations.
The DMRC will be charging a rent for the space given to Easy cabs and receive a portion of revenue generated as per a fixed formula worked out with the agency, the statement said, adding that the agreement is initially for three years. The metro stations on the Dilshad Garden-Rithala route where the taxi service would be available are Rithala, Pitampura, Netaji Subhash Place, Inderlok, Pratap Nagar, Welcome, Shahdara and Dilshad Garden. On the Central Secretariat-Vishwavidyalaya route, the service will be available at Vishwavidyalaya, Kashmere Gate, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat stations. Indraprastha, Pragati Maidan, Jhandewalan, Rajendra Place, Dwarka, Dwarka Sec-9 and 10 are the stations where the taxi service will be available on the Indraprastha-Dwaraka route.
The DMRC already has 120 Feeder Buses which are running on 17 routes carrying over 60,000 commuters every day. It also provides rent a cycle service to commuters at the Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station.
