South Eastern Railway loaded 134.29 million tonne of freight during 2015-16, up 8.25% from 2014-15

With the improved freight performance South Eastern Railway also managed to generate much higher freight earnings of Rs 10374.45 crore in 2015-16.

KOLKATA: South Eastern Railway (SER) loaded 134.29 million tonne (mt) of freight during 2015-16 which is 8.25% higher than 2014-15 surpassing its previous highest loading of 134.28 mt achieved in 2013-14. Major components of the loading performance in 2015-16 include 73.83 mt of iron ore, 25.30 mt of coal, 14.83 mt of pig iron and finished steel and 9.38 mt of cement.
With the improved freight performance South Eastern Railway also managed to generate much higher freight earnings of Rs 10374.45 crore in 2015-16, which was 8.5% higher over the freight earnings in the previous financial year.
