South Eastern Railway freight earnings up 15.76% in April’13 –Feb ’14
South Eastern Railway loaded 121.71 million tonne of freight During the period from April 2013 to February 2014.
The loading of the main commodity namely, iron ore touched 67.66 million tonne during the period under review, showing a growth of 10.02%. as against 61.50 million tonne during the April 2012-February 2013. S.E.Railway has also recorded a positive growth in loading of Coal, other raw materials to Steel Plant, Pig Iron & Finished Steel, Cement, Food Grains, Fertilizers and petroleum and oil products.
Earnings from freight traffic recorded a growth of 15.76% during the first eleven months of the current financial year in comparison to the corresponding period of last year. During April 2013 to February 2014, SER generated earnings of Rs 9093.28 crore from freight traffic as against Rs. 7855.45 crore earned from freight sector during the same period of last year.
