South Eastern Railway achieved a 7.1% higher freight loading

South Eastern Railway achieved a 7.1% higher freight loading at 97.70 million tonne of revenue earning freight during the first nine months of the current financial year.

KOLKATA: South Eastern Railway achieved a 7.1% higher freight loading at 97.70 million tonne of revenue earning freight during the first nine months of the current financial year (April-December, 2015) as against 90.96 million tonne of freight loaded in same period last year.

The major components that contributed to the loading performance were 53.83 million tonne of iron ore, 18.86 million tonne of coal, 10.59 million tonne of pig iron and finished steel, 6.36 million tonne of cement, 3.25 million tonne of merchandised goods and 1.60 million tonne of petroleum products (POL) etc.

Improved freight loading performance led South Eastern Railway to 8.74% higher freight earnings of Rs 7523.12 crore during April- December of current financial year compared to same period last year.
