Rs 852 crore earmarked for renovations of railway stations: Velu

Twenty-two railway stations across the country are set to get face lift soon as the government has earmarked Rs 852 crore for the purpose.

AMRITSAR: Twenty-two railway stations across the country are set to get face lift soon as the government has earmarked Rs 852 crore for the purpose.

Union Minister of State for Railway Rangaswamy Velu today told reporters here that the railway stations, including Amritsar and Haridwar, have been identified where world class infrastructure would be set up with ultra modern facilities.

He said Rs eight crore has been earmarked for the development of Amritsar railway station keeping in view the flow of international tourists.

Similarly Rs 19 crore would be spent for modernisation of international Attari railway station. The passenger's waiting room there would be made centrally air conditioned.
