In order to address the recent rumours of Reliance infra exiting the airport metro express project, DMRC has issued a statement today saying that the concessionaire will run the line till the arbitrator i.e. ministry of urban development comes up with a decision.
DMRC has also stated that it has rejected the request of DAMEPL (Delhi Airport metro express pvt ltd) for financial restructuring of the project in wake of the financial non-viability of the project, as cited by DAMEPL. On the request of the concessionaire, the dispute is also being referred to Arbitration.
The statement from Mangu Singh, managing director, DMRC said, ""T he issue of termination of the Concession Agreement has been disputed and the same has also been referred for resolution through Arbitration proceedings.""
He also clarified that DAMEPL has assured that it will run the airport line services till the matter is pending seeking resolution through arbitration. Recently, there were media reports citing the termination notice sent to DMRC by DAMEPL. DAMEPL has been facing financial troubles running the airport metro express since long and even asked DMRC to defer its concession fee worth Rs. 51 crore in April this year. Thereafter the airport express line has been shut temporarily since July 8 on the grounds of technical problems and safety issues.
