Record earning by Metro in September

Delhi Metro created a record last month when its monthly average earning crossed the rupees one crore mark, making it the most profitable month ever since it became operational in December 2002.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro created a record last month when its monthly average earning crossed the rupees one crore mark, making it the most profitable month ever since it became operational in December 2002.

Delhi Metro's average earning during September was Rs 1,00,27,877, DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.

The Line-III of Delhi Metro (Dwarka Sector-IX to Yamuna Bank) earned the highest revenue of Rs 41,39,892 while the Line-I (Dilshad Garden to Rithala) recorded Rs 31,27,559.

The earning from the Jehangirpuri-Central Secretariat corridor (Line-II) was Rs 27,60,426.

The highest revenue earned on a single day last month stood at Rs. 1,18,65,966, which was achieved on September seven.

During the month, Dayal said, Delhi Metro recorded an average daily ridership of 8.53 lakh.

However, the highest revenue earning so far since the operations started on December 25, 2002 was on August 3 this year at Rs.1.25 crore.
