Railways to set up 100 low budget hotels

These hotels will be constructed in the vicinity of railway stations.

NEW DELHI: Railways have decided to set up 100 low budget hotels across India with private participation.

These hotels will be constructed in the vicinity of railway stations, Minister of State for Railways R Velu said in Rajya Sabha while replying to questions.

To another question, he said efforts are being made to increase the speed of goods trains including those carrying essential commodities, removal of bottlenecks to traffic by planning for bypasses, flyovers, yard remodellings, reducing the number of permanent speed restrictions and monitoring of running of goods trains.

The minister said the Railways have detected 47.78 lakh persons travelling without ticket in trains from January to September this year. It has realised Rs 174.35 crore from them as penalties.
