Railways to launch a new web-based procurement system soon
All queries raised by prospective bidders will be addressed on the web-based platform, instead of sending it directly to prospective bidders.
The total procurement bill of Indian Railways is around Rs 50,000 crore. All queries raised by prospective bidders will be addressed on the web-based platform, instead of sending it directly to prospective bidders.
A rail board notification issued last week said: "To bring in more transparency in reply to various queries raised by prospective bidders during tendering process, it has been decided that no response to the query will be sent to prospective bidders directly. instead, the query and the response will be posted on the web platform."
Railway minister Piyush Goyal held a meeting recently with the rail board member on making the award of Railway work contracts more transparent and also to ensure that the Railway doesn't over pay the material that's supplied. The minister also decided to empanel new vendors to the list of suppliers.
