Railways to introduce alluminium coaches for goods trains
Railways has decided to introduce alluminium coaches for goods trains as they have much better carrying capacity and bring down operational costs by 40 per cent.
Prasad said alluminium coaches would bring down the fuel bill as compared to the steel ones currently being used for goods trains.
The Minister said the Railway budget, to be presented in Parliament on February 26, would be a "common man's budget".
"We will give special attention to the needs of students, farmers and workers", Prasad said after flagging off extension of Ajmer-Bangalore-Ajmer Express up to Mysore, and inaugurating a model station at Yeshwantpur here.
He said Railways would also focus more on increasing the number of general coaches and comfort level of passengers using them.
