Railways to focus on Poorvanchal region: Government

"Rail infrastructure will be developed in Poorvanchal region which has been neglected for several years," Sinha said at a function at the Cant railway station here.

VARANASI: Railways will carry out several development works in the Poorvanchal region (Eastern Uttar Pradesh) including upgrading of railway stations and introducing new trains, Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha said today.

Sinha said the region has been neglected for several years by the Railways and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who represents Varanasi in Lok Sabha, has himself shown keen interest for development of railways in this region.

"Rail infrastructure will be developed in Poorvanchal region which has been neglected for several years," Sinha said at a function at the Cant railway station here.

He said Rs 250 crore will be spent for upgrading the railway station here and 16 new trains will be introduced in Poorvanchal region.
