Railways revenue earnings up by 92% in Passenger segment

According to the statement released by the Ministry of Railways, the total railway revenue earrings witnessed an increase of 92 per cent (Rs. 33476 crore) in comparison to Rs. 17394 crore achieved during the same period last year.

The Indian Railways on Tuesday recorded an revenue growth of 92% in Passenger segment originating from April to October, 8. The Railways registered a growth of 24% in Reserved Passenger segment and 197% in Unreserved Passenger segment.

According to the statement released by the Ministry of Railways, the total revenue earrings witnessed an increase of Rs. 33476 crore in comparison to Rs. 17394 crore achieved during the same period last year.

The total approximate number of passengers booked in the Reserved Passenger segment during the period reached 42.89 crore as compared to 34.56 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 24%.


In comparison to the last year revenue generation of Rs 16307 crores, the Reserved Passenger segment performed well and generated Rs 26961 crores revenue, showing an increase of 65%.

In the Unreserved Passenger segment, the total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the period is 268.56 crore as compared to 90.57 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 197%.

The revenue generated from the Unreserved Passenger segment during the period is Rs 6515 crores as compared to Rs1086 crores during the same period last year, showing an increase of 500 %.
