The railway board had introduced the flexi fare formula on Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Duronto trains under which the base fares increased by 10% with every 10% of berths sold.
In September , the railway board had introduced the flexi fare formula on Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Duronto trains under which the base fares increased by 10% with every 10% of berths sold. The maximum fare was capped at 1.5 times of base fare, which means half the berths would be sold at that rate.
“The 10% discount for any seat that’s left vacant after the chart is prepared will be on the surged base fare on which the last ticket was sold,” a railway official said.
The fares have been reviewed on experimental basis for a period of six months.
Railways has also rolled back flexi fare system on the between Jaipur and Ajmer of New Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi Express and between Mysore and Bengaluru city on Mysore-Chennai Central Shatabdi Express. Even the shatabdi fares on these routes have been reduced up to Rs 140.
fares have been reduced by Rs 70 on between Mysore and Bengaluru city, by Rs 75 on Kishangarh and Jaipur and Rs 55 between Jaipur and Ajmer.
“This is to fill the vacant berths between stations on these routes,” the official added.
