Railway Budget 2011 disappointing: FKCCI

The budget does not make a mention of when the Bangalore-Mysore line will be doubled. It also makes no mention of a railway link between Hubli and Ankola, he said.

BANGALORE: Trade body FKKCI today expressed disappointment with the Union railway budget, saying it has not lived upto the expectations of the people of the state.

"The Railway Budget is not upto the expectations of the citizens of Karnataka", N S Srinivasa Murthy, President of the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.

"Unless and until more railway lines and more number of trains are run, the place will not see the improvement that is needed", he said.

The budget does not make a mention of when the Bangalore-Mysore line will be doubled. It also makes no mention of a railway link between Hubli and Ankola, he said.

Similarly extension of certain trains like Bangalore-Mangalore Express up to Karwar, though welcome, would be detrimental to interests of Mangalore and Bangalore is one of the most industrialized places in the state.

"We had demanded for a separate night train from Bangalore to Mangalore but this has not been heard at all", he said.
