MANGALORE: Despite the South Western Railway announcing that services will start from Dec 8, BJP workers on Saturday, staged "rail roko" in Mangalore central and Mangalore junction railway stations to protest "inordinate delay" in the commencement of Mangalore-Bangalore passenger train services.

BJP activists, led by state Unit President D V Sadananda Gowda, detained the Mangalore-Subramanya passenger trains and Mangalore-Chennai for some time on the track.

Meanwhile, Divisional Commercial Manager, T Balan, who rushed to the spot, requested Gowda and his party members to withdraw the agitation as train services would start from December eight.

The activists later dispersed.
