Rail ticket prices go up from July 1; who pays more, and who doesn’t
Rail fares are set to marginally rise from Tuesday. An official statement said an increase of ₹5 for 501 to 1500 km and ₹10 for distances up to 2500 km will come into effect. Besides, a ₹15 increase in distance slab 2501 to 3000 km will also be implemented. Ordinary class up to 500 km will not see any rise.

There will be no change in suburban single journey fares and season tickets (for both suburban and non-suburban routes), the statement added.

Within Mail/Express Trains (Non-AC), second, sleeper, and first class, fares will be up by 1 paisa per km.
